DOMINICAN AMERICAN LEADERS FORM POLITICAL EMPOWERMENT GROUP IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY
The need to politically and socially empower a community with a remarkable presence in the state has inspired the creation of the Dominican American Political Force NJ
The Dominican population has been steadily increasing in the country over the years with a large majority of over 300,000 inhabitants concentrated in the state of New Jersey. With a population of about 50,000 Dominicans, Paterson ranks third in cities with the highest Dominican population.
Taking into account the economic, civic, social, educational and political contributions set forth by the Dominican community we, as Dominican-Americans, understand our civic responsibility and consent to our duty.
Thus, February 27, is an important day for the history and symbology of our patriotic identity as we declared the birth of this entity – the Dominican American Political Force NJ (DAPF).
In the creation of this organization our mission is as follows:
Mission
The Birth of this organization is a product of the need to create a training mechanism and political direction that allows us to raise the level of participation in political processes at all levels of the state.
The organization is called to become the representative voice of the Dominican community in the state of New Jersey as a vehicle to be used in order to gain empowerment for our community in the political area. Defend, protect and ensure community principles and values, keep the community informed of issues that affect it positively and negatively and decide how to proceed.
The challenges of our organization to be solved are filling the leadership gap in our community, creating and educating future leaders of our community, identifying the places and political strife where we have the greatest potential, creating a database to identify the actual number we are and where we are focused, creating a consultation team to initiate a process of dialogue and negotiations with the various groups and forces that exist in our community and other communities.
Our mission is clear and precise: We will develop a high level of political negotiation training at all levels in order to become a political force that has the ability to select candidates from our community and put them in positions of political importance at all levels of the state.
We will prepare our future generations in areas that allow them to participate efficiently in the society we serve. At the same time, we will be willing to work with other organizations that pursue the same purposes as our institution. We will identify candidates from other political groups to consider negotiations that allow us equitable benefits from the distribution of the positions of future administrations that we support.
