East Brunswick GOP Chairman Jesal Amin Files Complaint Against School Board Candidate Jeffrey Winston for Trademark Infringement

For Immediate Release

East Brunswick, NJ– East Brunswick GOP Chairman Jesal Amin released the following statement calling on school board candidate Jeffrey Winston to drop out of the school board race for violating the trademark protections of a government-related symbol – the Brunswick Bears logo – on his campaign yard signs and potentially violated state election laws and/or regulations. Additionally, he failed to disclose the address of his campaign committee another violation of ELEC rules.

“Today I filed a complaint with ELEC about serious violations committed by board of education candidate Jeffrey Winston. This only begs the question, is there an absence of ethics or lack of understanding the law that has been plaguing the Democratic candidates for Council and the BOE in East Brunswick?  From refusing to pay campaign consultants, to failing to disclose the whereabouts of over $16,000 in campaign funds, leaving them ripe for abuse, to this latest instance. This is just the most recent example of how Mayor Cohen’s chosen council and school board candidates have proven themselves incapable of abiding by the law.  If they cannot follow basic campaign finance procedure, how can they possibly expect the residents of East Brunswick to trust them with their tax dollars?

Residents and students of East Brunswick deserve better than Jeffrey Winston on their school board.  From his public displays of absolute loyalty to the Mayor and Democratic Council candidates, to his belief that our students are better off with large class sizes, to his arrogant dismissal of students concerns expressed in a recent video, Jeffrey Winston has proven himself to be unfit for the school board and undeserving of your vote.

This latest issue is just the icing on the cake as to why Jeffrey should remove himself from the race, and if he doesn’t the Mayor and Council candidates should publically distance themselves from him and the voters of East Brunswick should elect the Republican ticket.”
