East Brunswick GOP Chairman Slams Democratic Council Candidates for Alleged Campaign Finance Violation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Brunswick, NJ– East Brunswick Republican Municipal Chairman Jesal Amin released a statement slamming the Democratic Council Candidates for an alleged campaign violation.  According to New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) regulations, campaign literature must contain both the name and address of campaign committees. Fliers distributed by the Democratic council candidates failed to list the address of the committees.

Chairman Amin stated:

“Today I filed a complaint with the ELEC about a campaign flier that I allege to be in violation of ELEC regulations.  ELEC regulations exist to ensure a fair and open election process.  When contact information for committees is not listed on literature, the public has few assurances that the campaign finances are being properly managed and/or properly recorded. I am confident that ELEC will find that my complaint has basis in fact and that they will level an appropriate penalty. The campaign finance manual clearly states its requirements for candidates, and the Democrats failed to meet these simple items.  If they cannot follow simple directives from a state agency, how can they possibly govern East Brunswick?”
