Fair Share Hospitals Collaborative Announces James Darley as Executive Director

TRENTON, NJ – The Fair Share Hospitals Collaborative (FSHC) Board of Trustees announced James Darley as the next Executive Director of the Trenton-based trade organization whose membership includes more than 30 non-profit hospitals across New Jersey. FSHC members serve patients in all 21 counties, employ over 87,000 health care workers, and care for nearly 8.5 million patients each year.

James assumed his new position on April 1st, becoming the third executive director in Fair Share Hospitals Collaborative’s history. Founded in 2013, FSHC has grown to become one of the premiere healthcare thought leaders and innovators in New Jersey. Through legislative and advocacy efforts, the Collaborative and its members are committed to working with healthcare partners and state government to ensure all New Jerseyans have equal access to affordable, high-quality healthcare.

“We are pleased to welcome James Darley as the new Fair Share Hospitals Collaborative Executive Director. His deep comprehension of the legislative process and extensive experience in policy making will provide the Collaborative with strong representation in Trenton. Under James’s leadership, I’m confident the Fair Share Hospitals Collaborative will strengthen its advocacy for public policy solutions that meet the healthcare needs of all communities across the state.” said Dr. Reginald J. Blaber, MD, FSHC’s Board Chair and chief clinical officer at Virtua Health.

James joins Fair Share Hospitals Collaborative following roles at Geto & de Milly, a New York City-based public affairs and lobbying firm, and as Chief of Staff to New Jersey Assembly Policy Chair Gary Schaer. During his tenure with Policy Chair Schaer, he successfully shepherded the passage of New Jersey’s first comprehensive statewide emergency medical services reform in decades, and secured millions for critical infrastructure projects in the 36th legislative district.

James brings leadership, strategic planning, and state government experience to the Collaborative. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing and advancing FSHC’s legislative agenda and advocacy, overseeing the association’s strategic goals, and working with policymakers to enhance the State’s healthcare system.

“James’s reputation for fostering collaboration and finding solutions to complex healthcare issues makes him ideal for this position,” said Stephanie Schwartz, FSHC’s Board Treasurer and President at Overlook Medical Center, Atlantic Health. “I look forward to working closely with him to advance the association’s mission of ensuring all New Jersey residents have access to high-quality, cost-effective patient care.”

James earned his bachelor’s from University of Mount Saint Vincent and his master’s degree from McGill University. Other work experience includes positions with the Bergen County Board of County Commissioners, Global Strategy Group, and Societe Generale.
