Former Congressional Candidate Announces Candidacy For Cumberland County Commissioner
Former Congressional Candidate, Sean Pignatelli, announced his candidacy for Cumberland County Commissioner this past weekend. There are 3 seats up for grabs this year for County Commissioner. All 3 seats are in control of the Democrats. The board currently sits at 4-3 in favor of the Republicans.
Pignatelli took many Republicans by surprise when he went against the grain in ‘22 adding his name to the list of candidates running for Congress, thus leading to his name becoming one of the most recognizable in Cumberland County.
Pignatelli, most notably for being a member of the Carpenters Union, is also a small business owner and a School Board Elect in Downe Township. Already with the support from the Carpenters Union, Pignatelli will also be seeking the support from the Cumberland County Republicans. If Pignatelli can earn their support, it is highly likely we will see at least one of those 3 Democrat seats flip to Republican and Cumberland County could be set for another Red Wave.
Cumberland County had one of the biggest Red Waves across the nation last year due to the strong campaigns of all Republican candidates. To date, there are over 20% more registered Republican voters in Cumberland County than there was at this time last year.
We are still very early into the political season and many things could change leading up to it. However, as of now, Cumberland County looks like it could be set to become much more Red in November. The Cumberland County Republican Convention is scheduled for March 4th.
