Freeholder Gill Files Petitions for Reelection Bid

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Today, Essex County Freeholder Vice President Brendan Gill filed petition signatures in seeking reelection.  Currently serving  as Freeholder At Large, he represents the Twenty-two municipalities throughout the County of Essex.  With strong grassroots support, he filed more than 300 signatures with Essex County Clerk Christopher J. Durkin.

Freeholder Gill hopes to build on the success of previous two terms by continuing  to work on key legislation to protect the environment, improve public health and public safety, support and expand service programs, and improve our county infrastructure.  Working with his colleagues, they successfully banned smoking in County parks, support Bike Depots in Bloomfield and Montclair and passed legislation regarding gun safety.  There is still much work to do on behalf of the residents of Essex County and with a President who has proposed a budget that would significantly divest from our communities, now is the time to rely on proven leadership.

“As our President continues to support polices that seek to divide our nation, now more than ever it’s critical we stand together in protecting the very values that make us American. I committed my life to public service with this mission in mind,” stated Gill. “I look forward to continue preserving open space for future generations to enjoy, strengthening our education system, bolstering our transportation networks and ensuring the fiscal stability of our County government as we work towards a brighter future for Essex County.”

Gill was elected to his first term as District 5 Freeholder in November 2011, and Freeholder At-Large in 2014. From 2007 to 2013, Gill served as a senior advisor to the late U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg, first managing Senator Lautenberg’s historic fifth reelection campaign and then overseeing all statewide operations for the Senate office.  In 2014, Gill ushered U.S. Senator Cory A. Booker’s reelection campaign to an historic 14-point victory serving as campaign manager and currently serves as an advisor to Senator Booker.
Gill currently serves as the Campaign Manager for New Jersey Gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy and operates his own public affairs and political consulting firm.
