Garden State Equality, New Jersey’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy, education, and wellness organization, will once again host five events across the state as part of Equality in Motion, the organization’s largest annual grassroots fundraiser.
This year’s Equality in Motion takes place in the face of an unprecedented national onslaught against LGBTQ+ communities, particularly transgender youth. The events will provide an opportunity for community members across New Jersey to come together in solidarity, share joy, and support Garden State Equality’s work.
Equality in Motion, formerly known as the Equality Walk, was rebranded in 2024 in an effort to make the event significantly more inclusive, equitable, and accessible. The inaugural event under the name Equality in Motion raised over $96,000 in grassroots funds for Garden State Equality’s programs, which address safe environments for youth, improvement of health services that meet LGBTQ+ community needs, and respectful treatment of seniors.
The lead sponsor of Equality in Motion 2025 is NJ Transit. The Atlantic City event is presented in partnership with the Trans Equity Coalition and will feature DJ Emme. The Rutherford event will be hosted by the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Both the Rutherford and Montclair events are presented in partnership with Garden State Rainbow Sports.
