Gardner and Smith Endorse Lonegan for Congress
Warren County Freeholders say ‘The Swamp is on Notice”

Hackensack, NJ — Warren County Freeholders Richard D. Gardner and Edward J. Smith today announced their support for conservative Republican Steve Lonegan in his campaign for congress in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District.

“Steve Lonegan is the candidate we need for Congress in North Jersey,” Gardner declared.  “Steve is a principled, common-sense, tell-it-like-it-is conservative.  Warren County appreciates candidates like that.”

Gardner, the Freeholder Director and Smith, the Freeholder Deputy Director, both agreed that Lonegan is proven and battle-tested.

“Steve has taken on the tough races before — races with daunting odds.” Smith said.  “But this election is different: This year, Steve will be in a tough fight.  But he’ll be running to take back a Congressional seat that has always been a Republican seat.”

Lonegan and Smith have been friends and allies for years, both having worked to help elect State Senator Mike Doherty in 2009 and to fight the misuse of taxpayer dollars in Trenton.

Additionally, Gardner stated Steve Lonegan is a loyal watchman of the taxpayers’ money.

“Steve’s message for North Jersey is exactly what Warren County voters are looking for — job creation, tax cuts, and term limits for Congress,” Gardner said.  “I know Steve will fight tirelessly for these goals.”

Smith added that Lonegan’s record of accomplishment taking on and defeating big government programs like Jon Corzine’s embryonic stem cell scheme and his toll hike scam, saved New Jersey millions.

“Just think what good Lonegan can accomplish in Congress by stopping some of the wasteful spending that has plagued our country for decades,” Smith said.  “The Swamp is on notice: North Jersey is ready to send Steve Lonegan to Congress.”

Lonegan has already been endorsed by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), Bergen County State Senator Gerry Cardinale, Mrs. Ann Kievit, President of the Northwest New Jersey Taxpayers’ Association, Rev. Greg Quinlan, President of the Center for Garden State Families, on behalf of New Jersey for a Conservative Majority, Alexander Roubian, President of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS), United States Senator Ted Cruz, Warren County State Senator Mike Doherty, Sussex County State Senator Steve Oroho, Assemblyman Parker Space, Assemblyman-elect Hal Wirths, Sussex County State Committeewoman Jill Space, Morris County State Senator Joe Pennacchio, Assemblyman John DiMaio, Assemblyman Erik Peterson, and Assemblywoman Betty Lou DeCroce.
