GOTTHEIMER EARNS ENDORSEMENT OF BERGEN COUNTY BUILDING TRADES, HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS

In First Term, Gottheimer Has Fought to Cut Taxes and Red Tape, Increase Infrastructure Investment and Bring More Jobs to N.J.

PARAMUS, N.J. – On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Josh Gottheimer joined labor leaders and elected officials at the IBEW Local 164 Meeting Hall to receive the endorsement of New Jersey labor organizations, including the Bergen County Central Trades and Labor Council (CLC), Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE), International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), Sheet Metal Workers, and United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Sprinkler Fitters.

In Paramus, Gottheimer was also joined by Assemblyman Chris Tully and Bergen County Freeholders Germaine Ortiz, Mary Amoroso, and David Ganz.

“I know that I wouldn’t be standing here today if it weren’t for the hard-working men and women in labor. Every single day, they’re out there building our economy and strengthening our communities. They are pro-business and pro-economic growth — and so am I,” said Josh Gottheimer. “In my first two years, I’ve fought to invest in our roads, bridges, and tunnels, including Gateway, that will create thousands of good jobs here in Jersey. Our health care professionals look our for our families every day.  I’m committed to helping drive convincing growth, lowering taxes and cutting red tape.”

“Josh Gottheimer’s been a staunch supporter of the unions for all the people of the state of New Jersey. Josh has been down in Washington, working hard on our behalf. He goes down to make sure that we get every dollar returned that we send down to Washington. He’s very big on infrastructure. He’s good for the state of New Jersey, and he does a great job because he knows how to cross party lines to get things done in Washington. We support Josh Gottheimer for Congress, and we want you to support him too,” said Mike Schneider, President of the Bergen County Central Trades and Labor Council.

“We represent 13,000 health care workers, and we strongly endorse Josh Gottheimer for re-election. Our issue, and everybody’s issue right now, is healthcare. We know that Josh Gottheimer will fight to keep the ACA intact to make sure that people with pre-existing conditions will still be able to access healthcare, and to protect Medicare and Medicaid for the people that need it most,” said Barbara Rosen, Vice President of the Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE), the largest union of Registered Nurses and health care professionals in New Jersey.

“Why is it so important to get Josh re-elected? Let me break it down for you. He’s willing to work across the aisle. He’s not only willing to work across the aisle, he gets it done. Here’s a couple of things that Josh is passionate about: he’s passionate about seniors, not raising taxes, the middle class, and unions. So that’s why it’s important–remember, November 6–Congressman Josh Gottheimer for a better way of life,” said Andy Scala of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local 427.

“On behalf of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 25, we proudly sponsor Josh Gottheimer for Congress this election. Josh is always pro-labor,” said Joe Melahn of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 25. “We appreciate his support, and we wish him well in his upcoming election.”

“We’re endorsing Josh Gottheimer. He’s pro-labor, and–like Mike said, and Andy said–he’s willing to work, and go across party lines, to do what he has to do to get the job done,” said Edward Driscoll of the Pipefitters Local Union 274.
