Gottheimer Marks Helping 100 Seniors with Medicare and Social Security

$222,402 Recovered from Social Security for Fifth District Seniors after Cutting Through the Red Tape, Improving Jersey’s Return on Investment

GLEN ROCK, N.J. — Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer announced that he had achieved an office milestone: helping 100 North Jersey seniors with Medicare and Social Security constituent casework. To mark the occasion, Congressman Gottheimer met with Renèe Cavaleri, a West Milford constituent, who had been experiencing roadblocks with Social Security before contacting Gottheimer’s office to help.

Because of a procedural error, the Social Security Administration had failed to release to Renèe the survivors benefits of her late husband. Renèe explained the problem to Gottheimer’s office, which worked to cut through the red tape at the Social Security Administration to correct the error. To date, the fix achieved by Gottheimer’s office has recouped Renèe $7,747.

To date, Congressman Gottheimer’s office has helped seniors recover $222,402 from the Social Security Administration.

Similar to Renèe, Norma A. of River Edge had for months been underpaid by the Social Security Administration. Christine B. of Ramsey had been overcharged monthly for a year for her Medicare Part B premium. And Medicare had failed to pay the bills of Janine R. of Westwood. Gottheimer’s office helped to resolve each of these cases and cut through the bureaucracy to get these Fifth District residents the money they earned.
