Governor Murphy Directs the Lowering of U.S. and New Jersey Flags in Honor of Justice John Paul Stevens

TRENTON – Today, Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 75, ordering U.S. and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff to honor the life of former United States Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

“John Paul Stevens spent 35 years on the Supreme Court, serving with honor, dignity, and great character,” said Governor Murphy. “On the Court, Justice Stevens was defined by his strong protection of civil rights, environmental regulations, LGBTQ rights, and the defense of so many values that we now hold as sacrosanct. We will miss him dearly and remember him fondly.”
