At his first official event on his first day of the economic mission trip to Germany, the Governor joined Jose Lozano, President & CEO of Choose New Jersey and other administration officials to announce the opening of the Choose New Jersey Europe Office. Click here for the full press release.
Governor Addresses the Aspen Institute
Later in the morning, the Governor addressed the Aspen Institute Germany/Berlin Transatlantic Forum, where Annette Riedel of Deutschland Funk engaged in a 20-minute “Conversation” in front of an audience of over 200 attendees. Deutschland Funk is a German public broadcast radio station.
In 2014, on its 40th anniversary, Aspen Institute Germany launched its Berlin Transatlantic Forum to address the most pressing challenges jointly facing Europe and the United States. Each fall, the Institute hosts a conference bringing together renowned experts and decision-makers from both sides of the Atlantic to exchange ideas and seek answers to important questions in the fields of security, energy, and trade, and also to discuss issues pertaining to our shared foundation of Western values.
DIHK & BDI Industry Roundtable
At this business luncheon hosted at the Bayer AG campus, the Governor made remarks to members of the DIHK and BDI on the benefits of locating business in New Jersey, then conducted a business roundtable discussion with representatives from approximately 50 German businesses.
The Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) is the central organization for 79 Chambers of Commerce and Industry, CCI (Industrie- und Handelskammern, IHKs) in Germany. DIHK speaks for more than three million entrepreneurs. The Federation of German Industry (BDI) is the leading organization of German industry and industry-related service providers. It represents 40 industry associations and more than 100,000 companies with approximately 8 million employees.
Governor Murphy Tours Bayer Healthcare G4A
Following the DIHK/BDI industry roundtable, the Governor remained on the Bayer campus for a tour of Bayer Healthcare Grants4Aps (G4A) and CoLaboratory. Grants4Apps (G4A) offers digital health startups mentoring and free coworking on Bayer campuses around the world. The Grants4Apps Accelerator in Berlin also provides funding of up to €50,000.
Bayer’s CoLaborator R&D incubators in Berlin and San Francisco are among Bayer’s five science and innovation hubs worldwide. Young life-science companies work on their innovations in rental wet-labs and offices on the Bayer campuses.
