Hackensack United for Progress: Labrosse/Canestrino Team Sees “Crooked Deals” as “Business as Usual”

Labrosse/Canestrino Team Sees “Crooked Deals” as “Business as Usual”

HACKENSACK, NJ – Hackensack United for Progress has expressed growing concerns over Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino’s knowledge of basic arithmetic and simple economics. Canestrino, who has nicknamed herself ‘the money girl’ has recently been appointed spokesperson of the Labrosse/Canestrino ticket, demonstrated a commitment to stand alongside her running mate, Mayor John Labrosse in the wake of his employment scandal.

Mayor Labrosse, an employee of Hackensack University Medical Center, appears to have traded a 47 million dollar “give-back” to his employer in exchange for a personal promotion and a salary increase. Hackensack United for Progress has condemned that deal and has pledged to clean up City Hall.

Deputy Mayor Canestrino has now gone on the record in support of corruption, and in her response, engaged in a debate with herself concerning the quality of care at the Medical Center. “Canestrino has a longstanding history of claiming to be an expert on subjects she knows nothing about,” Caseen Gaines, campaign manager for Hackensack United for Progress said. “Hackensack deserves a Deputy Mayor with a firmer grasp of reality and basic economic principles, especially from someone who refers to herself as ‘the money girl’ in City Hall.”

“The statement issued earlier today by the Labrosse Team is so delusional, I assume that Canestrino’s high-priced out-of-town PR firm and campaign manager actually allowed her to write it herself,” Gaines continued. “No professional would have sent that out.”

Gaines went on to say that the Hackensack United for Progress candidates – Lara Rodriguez, Jason Some, Michael Williams, Carlos I. Merino, and Rommy Buttafuoco – are proud of the work that HUMC does, and that it is located in our city. “Where we disagree with Team Labrosse/Canestrino is whether or not it’s okay for Mayor Labrosse to trade tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer money for his own personal benefit. Most residents would consider that a crooked deal, but Canestrino clearly sees it as ‘business as usual.’”

Gaines also noted that the Labrosse/Canestrino ticket continues to deflect their embarrassing record of failure during the past four years. “The voters deserve an honest debate of the choices in this election,” Gaines concluded. “I’m growing concerned that at this stage in the campaign, Team Labrosse still can’t remember the names of the candidates they’re running against.”

Hackensack United for Progress is a broad-based coalition of residents, merchants and organizations united to end the chaos and corruption of the past four years and put Hackensack back on the path to success as a community.
