HCDO Chair Guy Calls on Democratic Electeds Who Supported Schillari to Denounce His Move to Trump's GOP

Even law enforcement under Schillari’s direct command endorsed his opponent

JERSEY CITY – Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Craig Guy today released the following statement calling on the Democratic officials who endorsed outgoing County Sheriff Frank Schillari in his losing bid for re-election to denounce his decision to endorse Jack Ciattarelli for Governor and join Donald Trump’s MAGA Republican Party on his way out the door.

Schillari announced last week that he is proudly joining the Republican Party after getting trounced by Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis in the Democratic Primary for Hudson County Sheriff. Strangely, Schillari made his announcement on the same day national Republicans were fleeing Washington in an effort to escape the Trump/Epstein headlines and the escalating pressure as a result of their decision to cut education dollars, slash Medicaid, and cut critical funding for SNAP.

“Frank Schillari’s decision to join the MAGA Republican Party and stand with people like Donald Trump and Jack Ciattarelli is an absolutely tragic end to a long career serving the public,” said Guy. “Sheriff Schillari is willingly joining a group of people openly stonewalling the release of relevant information in the Jeffrey Epstein case and proudly touting their One Big Beautiful Bill that will bring pain and suffering to thousands of county families.

Frank is even attempting to bolster his ridiculous decision with the nonsensical claim that Trump’s Republican Party, responsible for pardoning thousands of rioters who attacked law enforcement and trying to overthrow the government, are somehow ‘more supportive of law enforcement’. Of course, it was only weeks ago that the Hudson County Sheriff’s Superiors FOP #127, a group under Sheriff Schillari’s direct command, endorsed his opponent for Sheriff while saying they believe ‘his vision will restore pride in the badge and bring back a sense of purpose’ missing with Schillari in charge.

Now that the campaign is over, Frank is showing his true colors and validating what thousands of Hudson County voters said when they cast their votes on June 10th, it’s past time for Frank Schillari to go.

Unfortunately, Sheriff Schillari had a number of Hudson County Democratic elected officials blinded by his many, many decades in politics who chose to support his re-election campaign. Those officials who endorsed Frank Schillari should seize the opportunity, today, to denounce his decision to join the Republican Party and stand with the Hudson County Democratic Organization as we work to get Mikie Sherill elected as our next governor and finish the fight to make sure our entire Democratic ticket is elected November 4th.”
