HealthCare Institute of New Jersey statement on the “Make Our Children Healthy Again” Strategy Report and direct-to-consumer advertising Executive Order

Trenton, September 10, 2025 ― Chrissy Buteas, President and Chief Executive Officer of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ – www.hinj.org), issued the following statement concerning the release of the “Make Our Children Healthy Again” Strategy Report and the White House Executive Order on direct-to-consumer advertising:

“For more than 150 years, New Jersey and its life sciences industry have stood at the forefront of humanity’s fight against disease, infection, and other health conditions. Our singular purpose is to help Americans – and patients around the world – live longer, healthier lives, with less discomfort and greater independence,” she said. “In just the past 25 years, our remarkable achievements – curing hepatitis C, vaccinating against cervical cancer, delaying the onset of Alzheimer’s, and discovering revolutionary treatments for sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, and rare cancers – demonstrate the extraordinary, life-saving breakthroughs we continue to deliver."

Buteas continued, "Pharmaceutical and medical technology companies continue to rely on the American gold standards of scientific research, medical expertise, and the world’s most rigorous, safe, and effective regulatory and approval systems to deliver to patients our life-saving medicines, technologies, vaccines and diagnostics. We share a universal commitment to keeping patients of all ages healthy and look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders – from the patient community to state and federal regulatory agencies – to continue doing what we do best: saving lives around the world by discovering new treatments and cures right here in New Jersey."

Buteas concluded, “Life sciences companies endeavor to educate patients about health conditions and the life-changing and life-saving treatment options available so those patients may hold informed discussions with their doctor. These educational materials are often provided through responsible, accurate and fact-based advertising so patients can research further in consultation with knowledgeable medical practitioners.”
