NORTH ARLINGTON – Police officers were dispatched following a 911 call of a burglary in process yesterday (10/21).

According to initial reports, a suspect wearing a mask dressed in black made a forced entry into a home through a window. The intruder was confronted by the resident who was at home at the time of the break-in.

Another male accomplice was apparently outside but fled the scene as nothing was taken according to published reports.

Those investigating the matter believe the robbery was an attempt to steal a parked Range Rover in the driveway of the residence.

Candidate John Balwierczak and running-mate Cengiz “Jim” Sever said they will focus on “solutions, collaboration and partnership” with law enforcement to stem the tide of home invasions in the community.

“The police response could be increased through drone technology. We realize the cops can’t be everywhere, but technology can certainly assist in decreasing home thefts,” offered the candidates.

Drone technology can help deter, detect, document, and slow down home invasions, but it’s not a magic bullet.

What drones can do:

Surveillance & documentation: Drones can record suspects and their movements, giving high-value evidence for police and insurers.

Tracking until police arrive: A drone can follow/from above and maintain visual contact (within line-of-sight and legal limits), which helps first responders locate suspects faster.

Many police departments in the U.S. are currently using drone technology as part of their law-enforcement operations.

How drones are being used:

Drones are deployed for aerial situational awareness in response to 911 calls, large‐scale events, or hazardous scenes (such as barricade situations).

They are also used by departments for crime-scene documentation, accident reconstruction (using aerial imagery to map scenes) and monitoring of public spaces.

Some programs are specifically called “Drone as First Responder” (DFR), where a drone is dispatched to the scene of a call even before or instead of a patrol car, to gather visual data quickly.

According to a Congressional Research Service report: by 2020 or so, more than ~1,500 state/local public-safety agencies (over 70 % of which are law enforcement) had acquired drones.

“Incumbents DeCicco and Del Russo have offered nothing to residents regarding these break-ins and home invasions. There answer to every problem is the raising of property taxes, not a solution based addressing of the issue. Here once again, they are failing residents and not protecting the community,” offered Balwierczak.

“When we win, you will never hear from Amanda DeCicco ever again because she is an apologist for the status quo who rarely votes and has little interest in actually governing. We desperately need a second pair of eyes offering real input into improving our response to these incidents,” said both candidates.
