Houghtaling & Downey Elated for Sports Betting Bill to Become Law

(TRENTON) – Assembly Democrats Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey (D-Monmouth) released the following statements Monday regarding Gov. Murphy’s signing of their sports betting bill into law:

“This is such an incredible day for New Jersey and Monmouth County.

“With Gov. Murphy signing A-4111 into law, legalizing sports betting at our racetracks and Atlantic City’s casinos, we will be able to create countless jobs and our county’s racetracks will draw in thousands of people from around the state, country and the world,” said Houghtaling.

“We will also finally be able to put an end to illegal sports betting.”

“The legalization of sports gaming opens a plethora of opportunities for Monmouth County,” said Downey.

“Monmouth Park and Freehold Raceway will be able to thrive in ways which we have not seen in years.

“We will modernize our gaming industry, increase tourism, and increase revenue for our state budget to help pay for vital programs which assist so many of New Jersey’s families.”
