HUD REGION II WELCOMES NEW FIELD OFFICE DIRECTOR IN NEW JERSEY

Newark, New Jersey – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Region II, New York and New Jersey, is pleased to announce Justin Scheid, as the new Field Office Director for New Jersey.  Justin will oversee HUD operations in the entire state.

“I am thrilled to announce that Justin Scheid will be leading the HUD office in New Jersey.  Having been at HUD for many years and being a South Jersey native himself, Justin brings to the position a wealth of knowledge of HUD programs, an existing rapport with countless elected officials and deep understanding of the challenges in the Garden State,”  said Lynne Patton, HUD Regional Administrator for New York and New Jersey.  “Please join me in welcoming Justin to New Jersey’s housing community.”

Justin comes back to HUD with a wealth of experience, most recently serving in the New York Regional Office as the Senior Regional Planner and Senior Resilient Infrastructure Manager, overseeing HUD’s post-Superstorm Sandy rebuilding investments in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, including $1.5 billion in grants for the 11 post-disaster infrastructure projects awarded under the Rebuild by Design (RBD) and National Disaster Resilience Competitions (NDRC).  He also recently served in a private sector position as “Director of Development and Network Engagement” for Hispanics in Philanthropy in New York, NY.

“I am elated to lead HUD’s efforts in New Jersey and to be working with the exceptionally dynamic and diverse people and communities across the state,” said Justin Scheid, HUD New Jersey Field Office Director.  “While we have a long road of recovery, I look forward to collaborating with communities and partners on all matters of housing and community development to build better and stronger in the months and years ahead.”

Previously, Justin served at HUD Headquarters, in the Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R), as Deputy Director for International and Philanthropic Innovation (IPI).  He has also held positions with the NYC Mayor’s Office for Strategic Partnerships and the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

Having grown up in New Jersey, Justin is eager to return to serve the Garden State.  He has immediate and extended family all around South Jersey.  In the early days of his career, he served as a Federal Relations Assistant in D.C. for Rutgers University and also worked for the people of New Jersey as a Congressional Fellow.  He’s had extensive experience in recent years on the RBD Hudson River Project in Hoboken, Weehawken, and Jersey City; and the RBD Meadowlands Project in Little Ferry, Teterboro, Moonachie, South Hackensack, and Carlstadt, NJ.
