IT Professional and Community Advocate Shahab Khan Announces Campaign for Ward C City Council, Joining Team Ali
"Jersey City has been my home since I first arrived in America in 1998. Like so many immigrants, I’ve worked hard, raised a family, and contributed to this community. Now, I’m ready to fight for the people of Ward C—because our voices deserve to be heard at City Hall."
Jersey City, NJ – This Saturday, longtime Jersey City resident, IT professional, and public school parent Shahab Khan will officially announce his candidacy for Ward C City Council, representing Journal Square, as part of Team Ali. The announcement will take place at 737 Newark Ave, Jersey City, NJ, 07306 at 1:30 pm this Saturday.
Khan’s journey reflects the resilience and determination of many in Jersey City. Arriving in the U.S. on a student visa in 1998 from India. He eventually built a successful career in the IT sector, working for major institutions like JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, KPMG, and MSK Cancer Center. His role at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) allows him to contribute to life-saving technologies that aid cancer patients, reflecting his deep commitment to service and innovation.
But above all else, Khan is a dedicated father of two children who attend Jersey City Public Schools. His campaign is deeply personal—he wants to ensure safer streets, better schools, and a brighter future for the next generation of Jersey City families.
Shahab Khan made the following statement:
"I know firsthand the struggles of working families in Ward C. I’ve lived them. As a father, I want my children—and all our children—to grow up in a city where they can thrive. That means safer streets, well-funded schools, and a local government that puts residents first. I’m running to be that voice—to bring our concerns directly to City Hall and ensure that Ward C gets the attention and investment it deserves."
Khan joins Team Ali, a movement led by former Jersey City Board of Education President Mussab Ali, who is running for Mayor in 2025. Together, Team Ali is building a coalition of leaders who believe in a Jersey City that works for all its residents—not just the powerful and well-connected.
Khan’s campaign will focus on:
- Neighborhood safety and pedestrian protections
- Holding developers accountable and securing affordable housing
- Ensuring well-lit streets for safer communities
- Investing in Jersey City Public Schools and supporting working families
