JNESO Health Care Union Endorses Candidates
North Brunswick, N.J. (Oct. 31, 2025) – JNESO District Council 1, IUOE-AFL-CIO, one of the largest health care unions in New Jersey, is proud to announce the endorsement of Mikie Sherrill for Governor and Democratic candidates for the New Jersey State Assembly.
The JNESO Board of Directors unanimously voted to endorse these candidates after a thorough review of voting records and public positions on top health care issues such as: safe nurse-to-patient staffing ratios, workplace safety, and the right to collectively bargain with management for fair labor contracts.
“JNESO is pleased to endorse Mikie Sherrill for governor. Her strong record of supporting organized labor, defending healthcare workers, and standing with working people makes her the clear choice,” said Elfrieda Johnson, President of the JNESO Board of Directors, which represents 5,000 nurses and technicians in facilities across New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
“She understands that quality health care starts with the workers who provide it, and knows that safe staffing levels, fair pay, and strong workplace protections are essential both for caregivers and the patients they serve.”
The growing complexity of the business of health care makes the support of political leaders even more vital to ensure that legislative initiatives to protect health care workers and their patients are a top priority in the state.
“These candidates grasp the issues that make a difference to our membership and have stated their support for our nurses and labor union,” said Douglas Placa, Executive Director of JNESO. “JNESO members believe these candidates deserve our support for standing with patients and healthcare workers in the Garden State.”
