Josh on the Job: Gottheimer Assists Customers at Mahwah Home Depot

Fifth District Home Depots Employ More Than 1,000 Residents

MAHWAH, N.J. — Yesterday, June 23, 2018, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) assisted customers, tested power tools, mixed paint, and held an employee roundtable at the Home Depot in Mahwah.

Home Depot began with two stores in Atlanta, Georgia in 1979. Today, Home Depot has 2,200 stores across North America that currently employ more than 400,000 associates, including 35,000 veterans. Home Depot sells many products made in New Jersey, including New Jersey manufacturer Snow Joe’s innovative snow shovels and snow throwers.

“Businesses like Home Depot are critical to creating jobs, boosting our local economy, and supporting products made here in New Jersey. Home Depot’s six locations across the Fifth District collectively employ more than 1,000 workers, including many veterans. During my visit, I was able to learn the ropes and try out some of Home Depot’s great DIY products at its Mahwah location, which alone employs 165 workers — including 25 veterans,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I want to thank Home Depot for its commitment to New Jersey workers, and particularly New Jersey veterans, who have put their lives on the line to protect ours. In Congress, I will keep fighting to invest in our crumbling infrastructure, lower taxes, and cut red tape so that companies like Home Depot can stay and create jobs here in North Jersey.”
