Lagana-Scutari Introduce Resolution to Honor Dr. Anthony Fauci

Trenton – In recognition of Italian-American Heritage Month, Senators Joseph Lagana and Nicholas Scutari introduced a resolution to honor the life and work of Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“Dr. Anthony Fauci has selflessly served the American people for over thirty years, fighting some of the most notorious infectious diseases. He has been at the forefront of educating the American people and combatting HIV/AIDS, Ebola, Zika and now COVID-19,” said Senator Joseph Lagana (D-Bergen/Passaic). “I do not know a better time than in the middle of Italian-American Heritage Month to honor such an important figure in the American medical community and the Italian-American community. I have the utmost respect for his continued efforts towards saving people around the world.”

“There is a reason Dr. Anthony Fauci was recently named Time’s 2020 Person of the Year,” said Senator Scutari (D-Union/Middlesex/Somerset). “As a leading voice on handling COVID-19, he has been instrumental in pushing through the politics in Washington to keep the American people informed and safe, as well as communicating with other countries to work on ending the pandemic.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, and has advised every president since then on how to handle infectious diseases and pandemics such as COVID-19 and Ebola. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George Bush in 2008.
