Lampitt Statement on Governor’s Budget Address
(TRENTON) – In response to Governor Phil Murphy’s annual budget address on Tuesday, Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt released the following statement:
“Though the budget process is just beginning, I’m strongly encouraged by the Governor’s proposals for investments in education,” said Lampitt (D-Camden, Burlington), who is chair of the Assembly Education Committee. “Last year, the Legislature worked diligently to revise the school funding formula to provide a more equitable distribution of state aid among school districts throughout the state. The revised the school funding formula will rectify inadequacies exacerbated by years of underfunding by the Christie administration.
“I fully support expanding access to high quality preschool, where children can build a strong social and academic foundation that’s essential to their success in school, and continuing to move forward in balancing our school funding formula to ensure every child has the resources they need to excel.
“I look forward to working with the Governor and my colleagues in the Legislature to pass a budget that supports students of all ages and invests in our children’s futures.”
