Lampitt Statement on Prolonged Closure of
Atlantic City Rail Line
(TRENTON) – In response to the continued closure of the Atlantic City Rail Line, Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt released the following statement:
“The Atlantic City Rail Line runs through the heart of South Jersey, providing a vital link between Atlantic City and Philadelphia,” said Lampitt (D-Camden, Burlington). “Thousands of commuters, with many residents from my district accessing the train line via the Cherry Hill station, depend on it to get to and from work or school each day. It’s those daily riders who were hurt the most when the line closed in September for the installation of positive train control equipment. But now that the installation is complete, it’s unclear what’s stopping NJ Transit from getting the trains back up and running.
“NJ Transit officials will be visiting Cherry Hill next week to address the concerns of commuters, and there are sure to be many. I encourage all riders to attend the public meeting and make their voices heard, and show how important the rail line is for our community. It’s time for NJ Transit to give commuters the answers and consideration they rightfully deserve.”
The public meeting will be held February 27 at 6 p.m. at 820 Mercer Street, Cherry Hill, NJ, 08002.
