Lonegan Hugs Tax Hike Bill Tightly While McCann Ducks and Covers
Rarely do candidates run on hiking taxes or on being a coward, but that’s exactly what the Republicans running in New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District are making the centerpieces of their campaigns.
On the one hand, Tea Party bigot and perennial loser Steve Lonegan has given his full-throated endorsement to the GOP Tax Hike Bill, even writing an entire column on this shameful tax hike, which according to The Record, “punishes the middle class and especially targets New Jerseyans and other residents of high-tax states.”
On the other, spineless John McCann has displayed an astounding amount of cowardice, tiptoeing around the GOP Tax Hike Bill, ducking, dodging and issuing “noncommittal” answers on whether he supports increasing taxes on middle-class New Jersey families.
“It is almost as unfathomable as it is disturbing, but Steve Lonegan is making his support for tax hikes on New Jersey families the centerpiece of his campaign—no wonder voters reject this perennial Tea Party loser year after year,” said DCCC Spokesman Evan Lukaske. “But as misguided as Lonegan’s stance is on supporting the Tax Hike Bill, at least he has the guts to take it, unlike spineless John McCann, who refuses to state whether or not he supports the GOP Tax Hike Bill. I’m just presuming he does. Either way, enough is enough—McCann needs to speak up.”
