Mayor Fulop to Sign Executive Order Creating a Violence Prevention Task Force to Draft an Action Plan reducing Injuries and Deaths due to Violence
What: Mayor Steven M. Fulop and the Department of Health and Human Services announce an executive order establishing a multi-disciplinary Violence Prevention Task Force to lead a planning effort to
establish an Action Plan to reduce violence-caused injuries and deaths in Jersey City. The Mayor will announce and sign the executive order on Wednesday, where city officials will also release the findings of a Jersey City Community Violence Needs Assessment. This is the latest step Mayor Fulop is taking to prevent avoidable incidents that can lead to tragedy.
Coupled with the data the Public Safety Department already shares, city officials will be releasing the data found throughout the needs assessment with the public along with a vision for a Violence Prevention Task Force. The assessment findings relate to four major themes: impacted communities, perceived causes of community violence, participant perspectives on existing violence prevention efforts, and additional opportunities for youth.
