Mayor Small Backs Atlantic City Casino Hotel Workers

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr. has issued the following statement in regards to negotiations between Atlantic City casino employers and union workers:

“I am throwing my full support behind the union workers of Unite Here Local 54 as they seek higher wages and the hiring of additional staff during negotiations with their casino employers. Our casinos are an integral part of the lure and charm of this City and the casino workers are the backbone. They are workhorses day in and day out, during all hours of the day. Nobody appreciates the value of hard work and diligence more than I do. As someone who started from the bottom, earning next to nothing, and worked my way up, I appreciate everything our casino workers do. They deserve to be properly compensated for their efforts, both for themselves and their families.

I am urging Atlantic City casino employers to come to terms with these workers on a new contract, that offers adequate pay and increased staffing.”
