Mazzeo & Armato Statement on Governor’s Budget Address

(TRENTON) – Assemblymen Vince Mazzeo and John Armato released the following statement in response to the Governor’s budget address on Tuesday:

“As the Governor laid out his proposals for investments in NJ Transit yesterday, he failed to mention the elephant in the room; the Atlantic City Rail Line remains closed,” said Mazzeo (D-Atlantic). “His intent to invest in NJ Transit is certainly a good first step. But I will fight to ensure some of that investment goes toward the AC Rail Line once it’s reopened, and the citizens of Atlantic County who’ve suffered without the train for the better part of a year. Commuters in South Jersey matter just as much as those in North Jersey, and it’s time they received the support they deserve.”

“We can all agree that NJ Transit needs to make drastic improvements, and greater investment in the agency will help us get there; but, the people who depend on NJ Transit in Atlantic County need relief now,” said Armato (D-Atlantic). “It feels like the Administration is putting Atlantic County commuters last. I’m ready to stand up for the interests of our Atlantic County residents throughout budget negotiations. I look forward to reviewing the Governor’s full budget to see how he plans to specifically invest in NJ Transit’s South Jersey corridor.”
