McIver Issues Statement on Her Recissions No Vote

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republicans passed a $9 billion recissions package that will claw back already appropriated money from vital programs, including global health programs, foreign peacekeeping investments, the Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio, and more. Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10), who voted no on the package that comes just weeks after House Republicans jammed through Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, released the following statement:

“Once again, in the space of less than a month, Republicans have proven that, when it comes to giving Donald Trump what he wants, there is no bridge too far or any measure too extreme. The rescissions package that Republicans just rammed through will claw back funding from local and national public broadcasting—silencing voices and endangering emergency broadcasting, especially in rural, underserved, and multilingual communities—and continue to decimate the foreign aid investments that help make us safe. Let’s be clear: this is cruelty for cruelty’s sake, and a performance by congressional Republicans for an audience of one—Donald Trump.”
