McKeon Statement on Attorney General’s Lawsuit Against ExxonMobil for Environmental Damages

(TRENTON) – In response to New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal filing a lawsuit against ExxonMobil, Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex, Morris) released the following statement:

“I enthusiastically support Attorney General Grewal for his vigilance and advocacy in filing a Natural Resources Damages lawsuit against ExxonMobil for Lail property environmental damage. For decades Exxon dumped petroleum products and other hazardous waste that polluted the land and waterways.

During Governor Christie’s tenure the state did not pursue a single NRD claim and settled multiple ones that were already filed for pennies on the dollar.

Our state has finally returned to the concept of holding polluters accountable for the damage they caused our communities.”
