Assemblywoman Addresses Hateful Comments Directed At Four Congresswomen

(TRENTON) – Following a press conference led by the Legislative Black and Latino Caucuses to address the undemocratic comments made by President Donald Trump toward four Congresswomen of color, Assemblywoman Angela McKnight (D-Hudson) released the following statement:

“The rhetoric used against our Congressional sisters, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley, only fuels the agenda of people who do not want to see our country progress. Insult after insult has been spewed to discredit the work they have done and were elected to do. We cannot be distracted, and must continue to fight for our Democratic ideals and support those in office making change.

“As a lifelong resident of Jersey City, I never take for granted the beacon of hope and democracy symbolized through the Statue of Liberty. Lady Liberty welcomed those from around the world seeking a better life and didn’t greet anyone by saying “go away”. Congresswomen, we stand with you and will continue to support you. You continue to be an inspiration to me and many others.”
