Monmouth and Ocean County Building and Construction Trades Council Unanimously Endorse Gopal, Houghtaling, and Downey

Monmouth Ocean B&CTC vote to support the Democratic LD11 ticket in competitive State Senate  race and reelection bid for Assembly

Long Branch –  This week, Monmouth and Ocean Counties B&CTC unanimously voted to endorse the Democratic ticket running for State Senate and State Assembly in New Jersey’s 11th legislative district.

“Our members work hard for our communities every day and we know we can expect the same dedication from Gopal, Houghtaling, and Downey – they are the team who will stand up for us in Trenton,” said Monmouth and Ocean County B&CTC President Tom DeBartolo.  “Vin Gopal, along with Assemblymembers Downey and Houghtaling, will put Monmouth County’s interests first and we are excited to help send the three of them to Trenton this November.”

The New Jersey State Building and Construction Trades Council represents 15 affiliated building trades union and 150,000 members statewide. The Monmouth and Ocean County B&CTC is one of 13 county chapters.

“I am running to make sure that families like those the B&CTC represents have a strong voice in the New Jersey Senate,” said Vin Gopal, candidates for LD11 State Senate. “Monmouth County families have been ignored by their senator for too long and that needs to end. I’m honored to have the unanimous support of the Monmouth and Ocean Counties B&CTC. I’m ready to get to work representing B&CTC members along with the working families of CWA, ATU, and NJ FMBA.”

Assemblymembers Houghtaling and Downey also expressed their gratitude for the endorsement.

“As a long time member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, this labor endorsement means a lot to me,” said Assemblyman Houghtaling. “The work that this council does for its members and the work the members do for our community is so important. I am proud to have this endorsement and to represent these members in Trenton.”

“I am honored to have the support of the Monmouth and Ocean Counties B&CTC and their members,” said Assemblywoman Downey. “Every day, I’ve worked to represent these working families as best I can while in Trenton, and I am grateful to have their support.”

Monmouth and Ocean Counties B&CTC is the fourth labor union to back the Democratic ticket in New Jersey’s 11th legislative district. Assemblymembers Houghtaling and Downey have received the support of the Amalgamated Transit Union and New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association. Vin Gopal has also received these endorsements along with the support of the Communications Workers of America.
