Morris Democrats elect new Executive Board

BOONTON – Yesterday evening, the Morris County Democratic Committee conducted their reorganization meeting at the Boonton Elks Lodge. The over 200 Democrats, including NJ First Lady Tammy Murphy, came together to unanimously elect Chip Robinson for Chairman, Lisa Bhimani for Vice Chair, Scott Carlson for Executive Director, Thaddeus Kobylarz for treasurer, John Aden for Secretary, and Heather Champagne for Sargent-at-Arms.

Chip Robinson has been Chairman of the Morris County Democratic Committee since 2014. Under his leadership, the Morris Democrats have picked up 21 municipal seats without losing a single previously held Democratic seat. Chip has lived in Morris County for his entire life, and currently resides in Lincoln Park.

Lisa Bhimani is the newly elected Vice Chair of the Morris County Democratic Committee. She is an OB/GYN who has lived in Mendham for 13 years. Lisa ran for Senate in the 25th Legislative District in 2017, nearly defeating 20 -year incumbent, Anthony Bucco.

Scott Carlson will remain Executive Director of the MCDC. Scott has been heavily involved in New Jersey Democratic campaigns for over 20 years. Scott resides in Parsippany with his wife and two children.

Councilman Thaddeus Kobylarz will remain Treasurer of the MCDC. Thad is a councilman in Chatham Borough and a former Board member of the Chatham Education Foundation. He was the Chairman of the Chatham Borough Democratic Committee for over 5 years.

John Aden will remain Secretary of the MCDC. John Aden has served as our secretary since 2016 and is the Chairman of the Florham Park Democratic Committee.

Heather Champagne, who will remain Sargent-at-Arms, has served as secretary of the Roxbury Township Democrats since 2014. Heather resides in Roxbury with her husband and daughter.

Lisa Bhimani will be replacing State Committeewoman Marianne McConnell, who chose not to run for reelection, as MCDC Vice Chair.

“We are happy to welcome Lisa to the MCDC team and grateful to Marianne for her service over the past 2 years. The MCDC has made tremendous progress over the past two years, and I am looking forward to working with this team for an even better 2018,” stated Chairman Chip Robinson.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Democrats of Morris County,” stated Lisa Bhimani, “I feel very lucky to join this very successful executive board. Now we move on to the task of electing Democrats up and down the ballot.”
