Murphy for Governor Shows Thousands of Grassroots Contributors

Newark — Murphy for Governor is reporting an aggressive fundraising period that saw more than 5,000 individuals contribute a total of more than $2.2 million, including thousands of small, grassroots donations.

For the most recent filing with ELEC, submitted May 8 for the January 1 through May 5 reporting period, the campaign reported a total $8,537,460 raised and a closing balance of $844,638 cash on hand.

During the reporting period the campaign received 5,030 individual contributions, of which 55 percent were of $100 or less, for a net total of $2,264,488. Nearly 79 percent of contributions came from New Jersey residents.

Since Murphy’s campaign began in May, a total of 9,088 individuals have contributed $4,107,802.

“From the very beginning, we have been buoyed by the tremendous support we have received from thousands of New Jerseyans, both through volunteer efforts and through those who have contributed to our campaign,” said Brendan Gill, campaign manager. “We have built a campaign that is prepared to win in June and carry our party’s banner on to November. None of that would have been possible without the thousands of New Jerseyans who have stepped up to join us.”

The campaign’s total fundraising for the Primary Election cycle stands at $19,120,802. To date, Murphy has made loans to the campaign of $15 million.
