NA DEMOCRATS TO HOST FUNDRAISER WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 8TH

NORTH ARLINGTON – United States Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-9) will be the featured speaker on Wednesday, October 8th as the North Arlington Democratic Committee will be hosting a fundraiser for borough council candidates John Balwierczak and Cengiz “Jim” Sever at the Arlington Diner beginning at 7PM.
The Arlington Diner is located at the corner of River Road and the Belleville Turnpike, North Arlington.
Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased at the door.

Nellie Pou (born May 20, 1956, in Paterson, NJ) is a Democratic politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District since January 3, 2025.
New Jersey General Assembly (1997–2012)
Appointed in 1997 to fill a vacancy, she became the first woman and first Latina to represent the 35th district.
Held leadership roles: Deputy Speaker, Assistant Minority Leader, and chaired the Appropriations Committee.
New Jersey State Senate (2012–2025)
Elected in 2011, re-elected multiple times, served as Senate Majority Caucus Chair and chaired the Commerce Committee.
Chaired the New Jersey Legislative Latino Caucus since 2006 and served as President of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL).
Public Service in Paterson
Pou worked extensively in municipal government in Paterson, holding positions like: Director of Human Services (1986–1997), Assistant Business Administrator (1997–1998, 2003–2014), Business Administrator (2014–2018) and she also contributed to many civic boards and commissions, including the Task Force on Child Abuse & Neglect, HIV Health Services Advisory Council, and more.
Sworn in as a U.S. Representative on January 3, 2025, succeeding Bill Pascrell. Pou serves on two influential committees:
House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee (Vice Ranking Member on Aviation Subcommittee; also, on Highways & Transit, and Water Resources & Environment Subcommittees) and the House Homeland Security Committee (including Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee).
Member of key caucuses: Congressional Hispanic Caucus, New Democrat Coalition, and Congressional Progressive Caucus.
