NEW JERSEY LCV APPLAUDS ASSEMBLY HEARING ON WAREHOUSE EXPANSION
TRENTON – The following is a statement from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, regarding a hearing today by the New Jersey Assembly Agriculture and Food Security Committee to address warehouse expansion in New Jersey.
“The proliferation of warehouses throughout New Jersey is a concern for communities throughout the state. In addition to the loss of viable farmland and forests, warehouses bring other environmental concerns, increased truck traffic, air quality impacts, and wear and tear on local and county roads. Warehouses can also exacerbate localized flooding conditions,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director New Jersey LCV. “What we don’t want to see as a solution is locating warehouses in already overburdened communities. That’s why we believe there’s a role for state government to play in helping county and local governments navigate how and where we develop warehouses. We applaud the Assembly Agriculture and Food Security Committee for addressing this issue.”
