New Jersey shouldn’t be punished for other states’ inaction on healthcare

Today, Mikie Sherrill, Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, released the following statement on Senator Cassidy’s and Senator Graham’s proposal to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

“Once again Republican leadership is jeopardizing healthcare for millions of Americans. Under this proposal, funding for healthcare in New Jersey would be cut dramatically.  This risks affordable access to healthcare for our citizens in order to bail out states that chose to leave their citizens uninsured. New Jersey shouldn’t be punished for other states’ inaction on health care.

This process is broken. We need a bill with real solutions that won’t continue to play politics with people’s lives and their tax dollars. Even Governor Christie opposes this bill, Congressman Frelinghuysen needs to do the same.”
