New Jersey State Council of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART) Endorses Mikie Sherrill 

BLOOMFIELD — Today, the New Jersey State Council of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART), part of one of the nation’s most dynamic and effective labor unions, announced that they are supporting Mikie Sherrill for Governor. The New Jersey State Council of SMART represents five local unions totaling over 10,000 workers across New Jersey.

“The New Jersey State Council of SMART — 10,000 strong across the state in key industries from construction to transportation and more — enthusiastically endorses Mikie Sherrill as she runs to be our next governor. We need a leader in Trenton who will be a steadfast advocate for unions and who understands the need to build the highly skilled workforce of the future right here in New Jersey. Mikie has a strong track record of standing up for organized labor while investing in the kind of apprenticeship programs and infrastructure investments that we need to build the next generation of workers and to power our economy. We know she will bring that same focus and commitment to the state house as governor,” said Joseph Demark, Jr., President of the New Jersey State Council of SMART.
