FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 17, 2018:  Roseland, NJ – Today, the New Jersey Vapor Rights Coalition (NJVRC), New Jersey’s leading advocacy trade association for vapor and harm-reduction products and their related small businesses, announced it will be joining the Vapor Technology Association’s (VTA) multi-state campaign to save the vapor industry.  VTA is the vapor industry’s premier public policy and advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C.  and is the leading advocate for manufacturers, wholesalers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs who develop, distribute, support, and retail innovative and quality vapor products, providing adult consumers with a better alternative to traditional combustible nicotine products.

The NJVRC has been focused on repealing and replacing a harsh tax structure on vapor products which would devastate small businesses in New Jersey if it is enacted. The leadership and members of the NJVRC are confident in their decision to join over 20 other state trade associations in a coordinated effort to educate federal, state, and local policymakers on the benefits and truth about vapor products.

“Our members face increasing local and federal pressure including the current e-Liquid tax issue we are dealing with in New Jersey. The VTA has provided guidance as well as support as the NJVRC has sought to repeal and replace the current tax here” says Danish Iqbal, President of the New Jersey Vapor Rights Coalition. “We believe that a unified national strategy is the best way forward for small business owners in our industry and were impressed by VTA’s professionalism, substantive knowledge and strategic thinking. We saw first-hand why it’s important to work together with an organization with a national perspective in the best interest of our local membership.  We are excited about joining forces with VTA to defend the vapor industry in New Jersey and across the country.”

“NJVRC and VTA have been working together for some time to create an alternative tax structure to the industry crushing tax structure passed by the legislature and earlier this year. We are extremely excited to be working with NJVRC’s professional leadership team which is working to educate legislators and policymakers in the State of New Jersey” said Tony Abboud, Executive Director of the Vapor Technology Association.  “Not only has NJVRC done amazing job bringing vapor businesses together in New Jersey behind a common goal, but they will now be working with VTA’s nationwide network of more than 20 other state vapor associations, and will be directly integrated into our federal campaign to save vapor.”

The New Jersey Vapor Rights Coalition (NJVRC) is a nonprofit advocacy group made up of vape shops, e-liquid manufacturers, hardware manufacturers, distributors and the vaping community in New Jersey. NJVRC is committed to preventing underage youth from accessing vapor products. We support effective legislation, guidelines and regulation to prevent the purchase of vapor products by minors.
