NJ Working Families Alliance Applauds Earned Sick and Safe Days Act Signing

NJ Working Families Alliance Applauds Earned Sick and Safe Days Act Signing; New Jersey becomes 10th state mandating protections.

Trenton– In response to Governor Murphy’s signing of the NJ Earned Sick and Safe Days Act (A1827/S2171) on Wednesday May 2, 2018, New Jersey Working Families Executive Director, Analilia Mejia, issued the following statement:

“After more than 5 years of advocacy and countless conversations with voters, city council members, mayors Gubernatorial candidates and legislators, New Jersey working families can finally free themselves of the worry of economic turmoil brought on by the need to stay home and care for themselves and their loved ones when a simple illness or the need for preventive medical care strikes. We applaud Governor Murphy and the Senate and Assembly sponsors and leadership for their quick turn around on a key issue all have supported over the years. We especially laud the countless workers and advocates who were undeterred by the previous administration, striving at the local level through ballot initiatives or advocacy campaigns while we waited for this very moment.”
