NJBIA Statement on

 Increased Tax Proposals

New Jersey Business & Industry Association President and CEO Michele N. Siekerka Esq. issued the following statement in response to the ongoing discussion of raising taxes in the FY2019 budget by Gov. Murphy and the Legislature today.

“NJBIA continues to emphasize to our policymakers that we cannot tax our way out of our fiscal challenges, nor should we attempt to. Adding any taxes to one of the highest-tax states in the nation without a comprehensive plan to address our structural deficit is irresponsible and will lead to further outmigration, less competitiveness and less affordability.

“NJBIA urges policymakers to move forward with comprehensive reform and planning, and sustainable solutions. We look forward to being a part of that discussion.”
