NJDSC to Host Virtual Black History Month Panels on Monday and Thursday as Part of Month Long Celebration
The panels will feature Black representatives and faith leaders from throughout the state in addition to Governor Phil Murphy
TRENTON, NJ — The New Jersey Democratic State Committee will host two panels next week as part of its ongoing celebration of Black History Month. On Monday, the 10:00am panel will take place during the party’s annual “Faith and Democratic Party” Breakfast with Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver and NJDSC Chairman John Currie all making remarks. The Thursday 7:00pm panel will feature Assemblywomen Linda Carter, Mila Jasey and Angela McKnight and will be moderated by the Chair of the Emerging Leaders Caucus Fatima Heyward.
“This month we have been highlighting some of the most powerful African American women in our state and our nation and the incredible contributions they are making every day,” said NJDSC Executive Director Saily Avelenda. “We want to shine a light on their achievements, and also have frank conversations about the challenges facing the African American community and the solutions we can pursue. These upcoming panel discussions will be a great opportunity to bring these issues to the forefront as we continue to honor Black History Month.”
