NJ’s AFL-CIO puts troops behind endorsement of Smith in Door-to-door blitz

PRESS RELEASE

Mercer County, NJ– Rep. Chris Smith, (NJ-04) kicked off another day of campaigning
this morning, meeting with working men and women from across central New Jersey
who will be going door-to-door throughout the Fourth Congressional District over the
next several weekends to “Get Out The Vote” for Chris Smith in his reelection
campaign.

Smith, the only Republican endorsed by the NJ State AFL-CIO, said he deeply
appreciates the powerful organization’s leadership on issues critical to working families
and is impressed with their vast GOTV operation that compliments the endorsement by
helping to motivate voters on election day.

“It is inspiring and encouraging to see how the AFL-CIO’s grassroots member-tomember
process works,” said popular congressman who represents parts of
Monmouth, Ocean and Mercer counties. “Volunteers spend time visiting fellow
union members to talk about the coming election and I am honored to have their
support,” Smith said.

Smith is widely recognized as a bipartisan problem solver who effectively works across
the aisle to get things done—fighting to grow our economy, improve infrastructure, and
bring jobs to New Jersey especially and including at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
He has successfully written laws on a variety of issues critical to New Jersey’s working
families—veterans laws; laws regarding healthcare, autism, and education; anti-human
trafficking laws to combat both sex and labor trafficking; and laws protecting all children,
human rights, and national security. He is a legislative leader, second among 435 in the
House of Representatives when it comes to getting bills successfully enacted into law.

The New Jersey AFL-CIO represents more than one million members and their families
across New Jersey.
