Ward 4 Candidate Mark Razzoli Praises State’s Decision to Reject Charter School Application

Old Bridge – Ward 4 Council Candidate Mark Razzoli today praised the New Jersey Department of Education’s decision to deny the Albert Einstein EnergySmart Charter School application to open a charter school in Old Bridge. He also criticized the Old Bridge Town Council for its failure to pass a resolution opposing the charter school and to stand up for Old Bridge taxpayers.

Mr. Razzoli stated, “Old Bridge’s public schools are top notch, and we should be investing in them. I am thankful for all the people who joined together in opposing this unnecessary charter school, and am glad that the State listened to us and denied the school’s application. The people stood up, and the government responded. That’s how democracy is supposed to work.”

He went on to note that, “I am disappointed the Old Bridge Council never took action to oppose this attempt to steal millions of dollars from our public schools, but I can’t say I’m surprised. For years the Council members have spent more time fighting each other than standing up for the residents of Old Bridge. I am glad the people’s voice was heard despite the Council’s failure to take action.”
