O’SCANLON INTRODUCES BILL TO PROTECT SELLERS FROM UNJUST PROPERTY SALES TAX
November 13, 2025
Senate Republican Budget Officer Declan O’Scanlon (R-13) introduced legislation to grandfather sellers of property out of the recently implemented property sales tax who had contracts in place before the effective date of the new tax.
“This legislation honors the commitments made between buyers and sellers prior to the tax’s implementation,” said Sen. O’Scanlon. “It’s a basic matter of fairness—contracts that were in place shouldn’t be undermined by a last-minute tax change and those who entered deals before the law took effect should be exempt from this new burden.”
