Paramus GOP Candidates Call On Democrats To Return Any Daibes Donations

PRESS RELEASE

PARAMUS, NJ — In the wake of the indictment of high-density developer Fred Daibes, the Paramus Republican team of Jeanne Weber for Mayor, Jorge Quintana and Mohammed Reda for Council call on Mayor Labarbiera and the Paramus Democrats to return any and all donations from Mr. Daibes.

According to records of the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission, Daibes has donated thousands of dollars to Paramus Democrats, including Mayor Labarbiera’s previous elections.

“With Mr. Daibes’ indictment today, Mayor Labarbiera should return any and all funds received from him for his campaign to avoid the appearance of impropriety.” Councilwoman Jeanne Weber said.

Labarbiera, a developer himself, has a long history of accepting donations from developers. His tenure as mayor has overseen numerous high density projects including the current construction on Midland Avenue.

“Developer money has always been harming Paramus, but this goes beyond that. The mayor must return any money received from someone under indictment to protect the integrity of his position.” said Jorge Quintana.

The Paramus Republican team continues to stand up to Mayor Labarbiera and over development. They also stand for honesty and integrity. Campaigns should not be funded from individuals under criminal indictment.
