Pascrell Condemns Reports Trump Asked If Military Could Shoot Protesters

Congressman reiterates calls for accountability, criminal prosecution

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today reacted strongly to published reports that in 2020 Donald Trump asked if the military could “shoot” peaceful protesters that were congregating outside the White House.

“Donald Trump asked if the military could shoot protesters outside the White House. The sitting President of the United States wanted to fire upon demonstrators exercising their constitutional rights,” said Rep. Pascrell. “We must never become numb to these disgraceful acts. The minute we simply ignore them is the moment we have given up on democracy in America. There must be accountability.

“On December 11, 2020, I was the first member of Congress to demand the criminal prosecution of Donald Trump. I stand by that. Every day we fail to hold Donald Trump accountable for his litany of crimes and treacheries, we inch one step closer toward full authoritarianism.”
