Pascrell, Menendez to Announce Legislation to Restore Tax Fairness for NJ Residents

PATERSON, NJ – On Monday, February 11, U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) and Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), senior  members of the tax-writing House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees, will outline their bipartisan, bicameral effort to fully restore the federal State and Local Tax (SALT) Deduction. The Republican tax law passed in 2017 imposed a $10,000 cap on SALT deductions, leading to the double-taxation of hundreds of thousands of middle class families in New Jersey.  With the beginning of tax-filing season, many taxpayers are just now realizing that they owe significantly more on their taxes as a result of the SALT cap.
