Passaic County Board of County Commissioners Announces FY 2025 Community Development Block Grant Awards

PATERSON, NJ – The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners authorized the public release and public hearing for the County’s 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Plan. This important milestone marks the next phase in the County’s continued efforts to invest in infrastructure, housing, and services that uplift communities and expand access for residents of all abilities.

The 2025 proposed CDBG grant awards total over $950,000 and support 10 projects across Passaic County municipalities and nonprofit partners. These projects include accessibility improvements, critical infrastructure upgrades, home repairs for low-income homeowners, and support services for children who have experienced abuse and neglect.

“The Community Development Block Grant program is one of the most effective tools we have for creating stronger, more inclusive communities,” said Board of County Commissioners Director Pat Lepore. “These projects, ranging from ADA sidewalk upgrades to home repairs for our most vulnerable residents, demonstrate our commitment to smart, community-centered investments. Every dollar is going toward building a better quality of life for our residents.”

The proposed 2025 CDBG allocations include:

  • Borough of Bloomingdale – ADA Ramp Improvements: $62,247
  • Borough of Hawthorne – Handicapped Ramps at Various Locations: $45,000
  • Borough of Pompton Lakes – ADA Curb Ramp Upgrades: $165,000
  • Borough of Ringwood – ADA Curb Ramps and Sidewalks on Skyline Drive: $98,375
  • Borough of Wanaque – Monroe/Adams Street Water Main Improvements: $150,000
  • Children’s Aid and Family Services – Bathroom Renovations at Hawthorne Community Residence: $17,495
  • Child FOCUS (formerly CASA) – Court Advocacy for Child Abuse Victims: $36,503
  • Passaic County Habitat for Humanity – Critical Repair Program: $145,000
  • Rebuilding Together North Jersey – Repairs and Accessibility Modifications in Ringwood: $32,500
  • Program Administration – $199,392

As part of the federally required citizen participation process, the Department of Planning and Economic Development will host a simultaneous virtual and in-person public hearing on June 3, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at 401 Grand Street, Room 417 in Paterson and via WebEx. The full Annual Action Plan, including award details, will be made available for public review between May 28 and June 27, 2025.
