Pezzullo Commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in North Jersey

Rich Pezzullo joined George Gore at the re-launch of WKMB 1070 AM in North Plainfield to commemorate the memory of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Among his comments, he specifically cited the importance of Dr. King’s reliance on consistency in messaging and non-violence in delivery.

“There are good men, there are great men, and then there is Martin Luther King Jr., whose life and legacy we celebrate today. I agree with Isaac Newton Farris, his nephew, who told us on Friday that today is not a day to worship his uncle. It is a day to ask what we can do for one another.”

“We are not done fighting the fight against racism, and hate in all its forms is still with us. But it is passing away. Dr. King envisioned a world ruled not by power or money or authority but by love, and each day his vision is coming to life and his work is coming to fruition. Love is winning this battle. Today is a reminder to look inside ourselves and ask what we can do to finish it.”

“Dr. King and I share a common dream, that our children will be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. In his honor today, I ask for each of us to continue to use the power of non-violence that Dr. King taught us could be so effective. The power of right, administered respectfully, continuously and fearlessly will overcome any obstacle and can change entire societies. We honor his memory and promote his movement by continuing to follow his example at home, online and in the city square.”

Later in the day, Mr. Pezzullo will attend ceremonies at Newark’s Metropolitan Baptist Church conducted by the National Action Network, “Growing the New Jersey Economy Through Entrepreneurial Inclusion”. Other dignitaries expected include Governor-elect Murphy and Senator Cory Booker.
